The Way People Order Food Has Evolved, and Pilot is Evolving with Them

We’re modernizing the ordering experience at Pilot’s fast-food restaurants by adopting the same brand-recognized technology platforms used by our restaurant partners. This rollout is complete at Wendy’s and Arby’s locations and is underway at Subway locations across our network. These upgrades create a more connected experience that brings together in-store ordering, mobile apps, loyalty programs and third-party delivery services.

Giving Guests More Ways to Order Food

Today’s guests expect speed and flexibility when ordering from their favorite quick-service restaurants. Pilot’s restaurant ordering systems are designed to meet those expectations.

Guests can choose from multiple ways to order a fast-food meal, including traditional counter service, self-order kiosks, restaurant mobile apps and third-party delivery platforms. This variety gives our guests the power to choose the ordering experience that works best for them and can reduce wait times, helping drivers make the most of their miles.

A Personalized Ordering Experience

Pilot has installed 156 self-order kiosks in our 78 Wendy’s locations across North America. This enhancement provides flexible ordering options and supports faster service and improved efficiency.

Self-order kiosks give guests greater control over ordering their meals. Guests can easily customize menu items, add or remove ingredients and review their selections before placing an order. This improves order accuracy and allows our guests to build meals to match their preferences. Whether a guest wants extra toppings, no onions or a baked potato instead of fries, the digital kiosk makes customization simple.

The self-order kiosks are also ADA-compliant, helping ensure the ordering experience is accessible and convenient for all guests.

Connecting to Brands Our Customers Crave

Another benefit of Pilot’s restaurant technology enhancements is the ability to connect guests directly to the restaurant brands they know and trust.

We’ve partnered with Wendy’s, Arby’s and Subway to install their preferred ordering technology platforms at our travel centers, bringing the brands’ digital ordering experience to Pilot guests. This includes mobile ordering capabilities, loyalty program participation and access to brand promotions and offers where available.

For guests, that means having the reward points, digital deals and familiar ordering experiences they’re used to when using the restaurants’ apps or websites.

Supporting Mobile Ordering and Delivery

Wendy’s, Arby’s, and Subway locations connected to the brands’ ordering platforms are also integrated with third-party delivery providers to create even more convenience and flexibility for our guests.

This allows guests to order from participating restaurant locations at Pilot travel centers through their preferred delivery apps, giving them another way to enjoy their favorite meals.

Honoring Professional Drivers Through Road Warrior

Pilot’s annual Road Warrior contest shares the stories of the professional drivers who go the extra mile every day, celebrating their commitment to safety and the impact they make on and off the road. Drivers can be nominated through the Road Warrior entry form from September 1 through September 18, 2026. Eligible nominees should demonstrate outstanding professionalism, safety and service.

This year’s Road Warrior winner will be announced in October 2026 and will receive a customized Kenworth truck transformed by the Diesel Brothers, along with a $50,000 cash prize. The Kenworth W990 truck embodies everything expected from ‘the driver's truck,’ with a 52" flat top sleeper equipped with a Diamond VIT interior, powered by a PACCAR MX-13 engine that delivers 510 horsepower and 1,850 lb-ft of torque via a PACCAR TX-18 transmission. The custom build journey and Road Warrior highlights will be shared through exclusive content on Pilot and Kenworth social media channels.

Celebrating Driver Appreciation Month

Pilot opened new travel centers in Chicopee, Massachusetts, and Ponce de Leon, Florida, while completing curb-to-counter upgrades at 18 travel centers in 13 states and Canadian provinces. The two new locations were among the first to debut Pilot eats and added 112 dedicated truck parking spaces,15 diesel lanes and 32 gas pumps. As part of its store modernization initiative, New Horizons, Pilot continues to bring upgraded amenities, streamlined store layouts and enhanced guest experiences to more communities across North America. Pilot eats Launches Chicken Tenders and Signature Sauce 

This summer, Pilot eats introduced a perfect on-the-go pairing nationwide: fresh, hand-breaded, buttermilk chicken tenders and a new signature dipping sauce, giving guests another craveable, high-protein option that will satisfy moments of highway hunger. Pilot eats Signature Sauce is thick and creamy with a bold, smoky flavor and just the right touch of heat and zest to keep drivers coming back for more.

Recognizing the signs of a stroke and acting quickly are vital. Throughout the month, Pilot and the Heart Association are promoting the B.E. F.A.S.T. warning signs:

• F – Face Drooping: Does one side of the face droop, or is it numb?
• A – Arm Weakness: Is one arm weak or numb?

In addition to the round-up campaign, Pilot is prioritizing the health of its team members by providing access to the Heart Association’s stroke prevention education, resources and screenings to be more aware of the signs of stroke. These trainings and resources are also available to the public by contacting the local American Heart Association office.

Construction of Tesla Semi Chargers will begin in the first half of 2026 at select Pilot travel centers planned across California, Georgia, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas.

Pilot travel centers equipped with Tesla Semi Chargers will host four to eight charging stalls and will leverage Tesla’s V4 cabinet charging technology, delivering up to 1.2 megawatts of power at each stall.

This network will initially focus on providing charging infrastructure for Tesla’s Semi trucks. In the future, it may be expanded to be compatible with heavy-duty electric vehicles from other manufacturers.

Tesla has stated that the majority of a Semi truck’s 500-mile range can be recovered in a 30-minute charge session, matching a normal mandated break period for professional drivers.

Demand for alternative fuels continues to grow across North America and Pilot continues to diversify its offerings to meet the needs of guests and fleet customers, such as electrification, hydrogen, renewable diesel and higher-blend biodiesel.

After reviewing thousands of deserving entries, Pilot, the nation’s largest travel center operator and third largest tanker fleet operator in the U.S., announced today their 2025 Road Warrior champion, Stacy Batiste of Lafayette, Louisiana. Batiste was selected for his tireless dedication and commitment to professional driving, receiving the largest prize in contest history – a custom Kenworth truck built by the Diesel Brothers and a $50,000 cash prize. Pilot’s Road Warrior contest is a way for the company to say thanks to the drivers who go the extra mile and keep North America moving. A bonus second-place winner, Bobby Peeker of Woodruff, South Carolina, is also being awarded a $10,000 cash prize and a $25,000 donation on his behalf to a charity supporting veterans’ causes of his choice.  

“We received thousands of entries celebrating the efforts of drivers who go the extra mile each and every day. Stacy’s and Bobby’s hard work, dedication to the profession, commitment to safety and service stood out. Batiste has dedicated the past 33 years to being on the road, logging more than 5.1 million accident-free miles and considers trucking to be his calling. Batiste has been recognized throughout his career for his commitment to road safety. A Marine Corps veteran, Batiste is motivated by the pride of knowing his efforts keep communities and families supplied with the goods they need. In addition to his time behind the wheel, he routinely goes the extra mile to mentor younger drivers and serves as a pillar in his local community. 

On October 21, Pilot surprised Batiste with his prize while he was working and on the road. Batiste had stopped at a Flying J in Baytown, Texas, when Pilot and the Diesel Brothers handed over the keys to the custom Kenworth truck and presented the $50,000 check. His family hid in the travel center to be a part of the surprise. They say Batiste’s first job as a professional driver was hauling sugar cane in South Louisiana, and now, as an owner-operator, this truck will further his passion for safe driving and making a difference in his community. 

With the amount of heart-warming stories that were submitted through this year’s Road Warrior nomination process, Pilot selected an additional deserving winner. Bobby Peeker, also a Marine Corps veteran, will receive a $10,000 cash prize and a $25,000 donation made by Pilot on his behalf to a charity of his choice that supports veterans’ causes.  

Peeker boasts more than 1 million accident-free miles and supports the military community following his service in the Marine Corps, regularly volunteering his time and resources to aid his fellow servicemen and servicewomen. He also participates in truck shows that support the Special Olympics. His family instilled his passion for the profession, which was only strengthened by the role his grandfather played to help remove rubble from the 9/11 attacks with his truck.

Overhead canopies at many locations protect drivers from sun or snow and pull-through stalls allow drivers who are towing a trailer or traveling in an electric van to easily connect their charging ports. Plug and Charge – a feature that enables compatible EV models to automatically initiate and pay for a charging session simply by plugging in – is available throughout the network for drivers with compatible EV models, making it even easier to power up on the go.

Bold New Look for Pilot’s Flagship Store

Pilot unveiled its new flagship travel center in Stanton, Tennessee, spanning over 20,000 square feet. This location is now the largest travel center in Pilot’s network and features a bolder brand-forward design, a guest-focused layout with inviting spaces and expanded fresh food offerings. The design of this location will inspire future projects throughout 2025 as Pilot continues to modernize and test new concepts.

Redefining the Roadside Experience

More than 200 Pilot and Flying J locations have been upgraded to date as part of the company’s New Horizons initiative, while continuously integrating feedback from team members and guests after every remodel. Pilot’s guests shared that they are 80% more likely to return after visiting a remodeled location, underscoring the program's impact and value.

Expanding to Fuel Every Journey

Pilot is also broadening its network, opening its first new travel center of the year in Winfield, Alabama, and adding three dealer locations to its Pilot and One9 travel center network. These locations add more than 150 truck parking spaces to Pilot’s network and offer complete travel center services and amenities to meet the needs of all journey makers wherever the road takes them. In addition, the company opened five new maintenance and tire service shops this quarter, bringing the total number of Southern Tire Mart at Pilot locations to more than 80 nationwide.

Leading the Charge with Pilot’s Expanding EV Network 

Pilot is driving forward with its EV network, now surpassing 130 locations in more than 25 states.  Designed to provide a best-in-class charging experience, these locations offer amenities not found at other charging stalls, including canopies for weather protection, free Wi-Fi, dining options, clean and well-lit facilities and access to restrooms and showers. Since the beginning of this year, Pilot has installed 12 new fast-charging locations spanning 10 states—Alabama, Indiana, Michigan, Virginia, Texas, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, California, Oregon and Missouri. With EV charging now available along major interstates and popular travel routes, the company is empowering EV drivers to explore farther with confidence and ease.

As the busy spring and summer travel season approaches, EV drivers will be able to road trip confidently to many popular destinations, with charging infrastructure now available along I-75 between Michigan and Georgia and regional corridors such as Minneapolis to Milwaukee, Detroit to Cleveland, San Antonio to Houston and Dallas to Nashville. 

“As we strive to be the leading energy and experience provider people rely on to fuel their journeys, our travel centers are uniquely able to fill a need for EV owners who are looking to make the most of their miles,” said Shannon Sturgil, senior vice president of alternative fuels at Pilot. “The collaboration with General Motors and EVgo will continue to bring highway-based charging to more regions and routes where this infrastructure is needed.”

Pilot, GM and EVgo first announced their collaboration in 2022 and are working to build a total of up to 2,000 fast-charging stalls at up to 500 Pilot and Flying J locations. EV drivers can count on Pilot’s travel centers’ premium amenities that aren’t typically found at other charging locations, such as lounges, free Wi-Fi, on-site restaurants, grab-and-go food and beverage options and grocery and convenience items. Every location is well-lit in centrally located areas that are accessible 24/7, with modernized restrooms and round-the-clock team members. Many of Pilot’s charging locations offer overhead canopies and pull-through charging stalls that are more convenient than back-in stalls and accommodate drivers who are towing trailers. With EVgo’s high-power chargers offering up to 350 kW, drivers can recharge in as little as 15 minutes.* Seamless charging is also offered through Plug and Charge, available throughout this network for drivers with compatible EV models.

Convenient access to fast charging infrastructure along major interstates and highways is critical to boost range confidence and serve customers who choose to drive electric as EV sales continue to rise across the United States. In 2024, EV sales reached 1.3 million, and the fourth quarter saw a record 15% growth compared to the fourth quarter of 2023. ^[1] The range of EV options offered by GM contributed to the surge, with GM brand EV sales alone spiking 50% in the fourth quarter of 2024.^[2] To support this sustained growth, the companies will continue to work together to install additional charging infrastructure, connecting highway corridors across the country.

This development sets a milestone in sustainable energy by bringing B99 into the travel center space, helping make low-carbon solutions more accessible to fleets. B99 biodiesel is a lower-carbon fuel that is driving a cleaner future for hard-to-decarbonize sectors like long-haul trucking. Biodiesel is manufactured from vegetable oils, animal fats or recycled grease and can improve fuel efficiency and help reduce carbon emissions in commercial trucking. Optimus Technologies, a leader in fleet sustainability innovation, enabled this rollout through its development of groundbreaking technology that upgrades diesel engines to operate on up to 100% biodiesel.

Liz Leon, a professional driver for over 19 years and this year's grand prize winner, transports containers in and out of Southern California ports for 4Gen Logistics. Liz started her career with Toys R Us, where she fell in love with the road and found her passion for driving. Driving an average of 100,000 miles a year, Liz is accident-free and has been recognized by the California Trucking Association for her phenomenal driving.

On October 22, Pilot team members flew to Rialto, California, to surprise Liz before she began her shift at 4Gen Logistics. Colleagues and family members, including her husband, daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren, joined to celebrate the 2024 Road Warrior winner and present a check for $25,000 upon her arrival.

“Congratulations to this year’s Road Warrior, Liz Leon, who stood out among the many deserving drivers we read about during the contest,” said Jordan Spradling, vice president of transportation and logistics at Pilot. “We appreciate all the nominations and stories of drivers like Liz, Herschel, Joe, and Roy, who show up day in and day out, put in countless hours and miles and embody everything we value at Pilot.“

New to this year’s Road Warrior contest, Pilot chose four winners from each week’s nominations to win $1,000 and to be in the running for the $25,000 grand prize. In addition to Liz, this year’s weekly winners include:

• Herschel Evans: A professional driver from Bremen, Georgia, with over 38 years of experience and 3.5 million safe driving miles, he has helped countless families through his charity work, including Atlanta Ride for Kids, Convoy of Care and Safety Drive for a Cure.
• Joe Mondor: A professional driver from Grand Forks, North Dakota, Joe has logged over 4.5 million safe driving miles over his 33 years in the trucking industry. Joe has been recognized as a true professional, a safety leader and a mentor for his peers.
• Roy Prentice: A professional driver from Reno, Nevada, Roy has accrued more than 3 million safe driving miles and has been a professional driver for more than 30 years. He is known for his passion for helping others in his community and his fellow drivers out on the road.

UT has partnered with Pilot to accept donations at the Pilot PSS Warehouse from Tuesday, October 15, through Thursday, October 17. The drop-off times are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

The donated supplies will be sent to the Northeast Tennessee Disaster Relief Center. The address is 4200 Middlebrook Farm Lane, Building #5, Knoxville, TN 37921.

UT Staff, students, and student-athletes can sign up for shifts through the Division of Student Life's Jones Center.

Pilot is also mobilizing its extensive network of travel centers to support communities affected by Hurricane Helene through an in-store round-up campaign* for the American Red Cross. From October 4 to October 18, 2024, guests can visit any U.S. owned and operated Pilot, Flying J and One9 travel center location to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar to provide aid to those affected by the hurricane. One hundred percent of funds raised will support Red Cross response efforts in impacted communities across the Southeast.

Tennessee Athletics and local bottler Coca-Cola Consolidated will begin the donation drive on Friday, October 11, delivering hundreds of cases of water to the Northeast Tennessee Disaster Relief Center.

Late last week, Tennessee Athletics announced that fans can now purchase t-shirts, hats, and stickers featuring the "Mountain Strong" helmet decal that the Tennessee football team will wear to honor those impacted by Hurricane Helene.

The "Mountain Strong" merchandise is available at the Vol Shop and Alumni Hall.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted during this difficult time," said Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics Danny White. "We sincerely hope these initiatives will bring much-needed support and awareness to the affected communities."

The proceeds from all of the merchandise sales will go to charity.

Tennessee Athletics and Pilot are breaking new ground in college sports by entering a multi-year partnership that preserves the iconic venue's name and enhances the stadium experience for future generations. Under the terms of the agreement, which is slated for up to 20 years and could extend further, the names of Neyland Stadium and Shields-Watkins Field will remain unchanged. Pilot is designated as the presenting partner of the Neyland Stadium renovation project and the official travel stop of Tennessee Athletics.
